6 Ways To Make Your Giving Tuesday Campaign A Success

November 25, 2018 by Leadership Peaks Management Advice

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. There are a variety of ways that you can participate that are both affordable and unique.

1. Set up an online donation drive on social media. Facebook is now allowing you to pick nonprofits to fundraise for. Head to https://www.facebook.com/fundraisers/ and set up your drive. Be sure to share with followers. If you want to create a more enticing incentive, offer up a raffle for anyone that donates. Tell them that their name will be automatically entered to win a prize after they have donated.

2. Set up an in business celebration. Encourage customers to come by your business by offering them light food and beverages. Set up a seasonal donation bin for toys, nonperishable food items, and or winter coats. Be sure to encourage lots of social media sharing to entice more customers into coming in.

3. Make sure you plan your campaign. Give yourself ample time to set logistics so the event looks professional. Be sure to designate different duties to your team so that everyone feels like they have done their part.

4. Include a storyline about the nonprofit you are supporting. Customers will feel more secure donating to an organization that has a history and an interesting story.

5. If you want to keep your Giving Tuesday campaign internal, tell employees to donate the same amount of money they would spend on buying coffee throughout the day or purchasing happy hour beverages.

6. Define your goals ahead of time to make sure your campaign was successful. This also fits into the planning category.
